Counselling at the Turning Point
A safe, confidential space for everyone
The Turning Point Counselling Service provides a safe space where you can talk about problems and feelings in a confidential and welcoming environment.
Anyone who needs help or support can refer themselves to the Turning Point. The first thing to do is to contact our office by telephone or email. If we are unable to take your call, please leave a message and we will return your call as soon as we can.
Support for local people
At the first meeting an assessment will be completed and the counsellor will explain if counselling is appropriate for you at this time. If counselling is agreed our confidentiality policy and contribution scheme will be explained to you. You will be offered an initial six sessions of counselling which can be extended as necessary.
At The Turning Point we are client focussed and are led by you. You will have a choice of a male or female counsellor, a counsellor in training or fully qualified. We also offer flexibility with regards to the time of our appointments.
Qualified professional counselling support
At the Turning Point we view safeguarding as a priority and all our qualified counsellors are registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) or the Association of Christian Counsellors (ACC). Our counsellors in training are also student members of the BACP.
What is counselling?
Counselling is a type of talking therapy that aims to help you deal with issues that may be causing emotional pain or getting in the way of daily life. Counselling can be helpful for feelings of stress, anxiety, depression, bereavement, loss, trauma or any issue you feel ready to talk about.
A counsellor will not give advice. They are trained to help you deal with any negative thoughts and feelings you may have and to support you and respect your views.
If you would like to donate to the work of Turning Point Counselling Service then please visit our donations page, we are very grateful for any help as it keeps us being able to support local people in our community.
